I have to live around these OM people all year and hear this rediculous saying. Anyone know what it is/means?

but

"'Hotty Toddy' has no real meaning, but it means everything in Oxford. For students, fans and alumni, it is a greeting, cheer and secret handshake all rolled into one. 'Hotty Toddy' is the spirit of Ole Miss"

I've always thought it had something to do with shite.

I always figured that it had something to do with the Cocktail called the Hot Toddy and the fact that they get all dressed up to tailgate.

Yes. Warm whisky or scotch and honey with a twist of lemon. Old school cough syrup.

quote:
A hot toddy, also hot totty and hot tottie as well as hot whiskey in Ireland and Scotland, is typically a mixed drink made of liquor and water with honey (or, in some recipes, sugar), herbs (such as tea) and spices, and served hot.[1] Hot toddy recipes vary and are traditionally drunk before retiring for the night, or in wet or cold weather. Some believe the drink relieves the symptoms of the cold and flu — in How to Drink, Victoria Moore describes the drink as "the vitamin C for health, the honey to soothe, the alcohol to numb."[2]
Ole Miss has been trying to recover from beat-downs for decades. This is just one of several various concoctions they have tried over the years to soothe the butthurt.

Isn't it like a mixed drink or something?

Something that is very gay but Ole Miss wants you to think it is perfectly normal.

Now days it's considered child abuse or child endangerment, but for 400 years prior it was okay. Go figure.

"Hotty Toddy" is very similar to "Who dat".
2 shitty catch phrases that mean a lot to each of their fanbases.
It's basically saying, "we suck, but who really gives a shite?"
And, FTR, I'm a Saints fan. Who dat?!?
