I can recall doing it a number of times during my years (the better part of two decades ago), but I haven't seen it happen in some time. Is the TV/news purposely avoiding reporting of it, or is it just not happening anymore?

Somewhere in a box in the attic I've still got the bloody game towel that I used when I was struck by the post.

Students knew how to party in those days. That could explain why I had to retake a number of classes.

I remember 97 Florida like it was yesterday.

ETA: With the lofty expectations of our team we went a long while without it. I'm sure the students may try to storm the field if/when we beat Bama on 11/5. Oh wait, never mind, they'll be in Tigerland.

we are normally expected to win all of our home games for the past 15 years almost now so no reason to rush the field/ take down the goal posts now.

P.S. If you notice the spread out cops around the filed along the edges to prevent ppl from rushing normally.

You aren't aware that things changed significantly after 2000 or 2001 as far as security allowing fans to come onto the field after games? There are cops lined around the perimeter at the end of games. They let the students storm the field after the 2014 Ole Miss win, but goal posts stayed up, I believe.

LSU gets a pass for storming the field against Ole Miss in 2014 because there were former Ole Miss players in tiger stadium who hadn't been there since they were traumatized in their playing days. By showing up in 2014 those traumatized former ole miss players ramped up the stakes beyond belief and gave that game a "must win" label.

Didn't you hear?

There's not enough students left at the end of games to take down the posts anymore.

I think the 97 Florida game was last time. However, we did storm the field in 2000 after beating Alabama for the first time in 30 years at our own place. Also, stormed the field in 2001 after beating Auburn at end of season (moved because of 9/11) and it got us into the SECCG for the first time.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that this is probably why it's now discouraged.
