I'm a team player, and as a kid in HS realized the glory and respect that comes from being known as one.
So I went with the fat girl to the JR Girls Christmas party to round out our group. I am a nice guy, so I didn't embarrass her when she sat on my lap and stayed there. I'm a big guy, was strong and thought I could handle this load. It hurt. My leg fell asleep.
When everyone got up, I couldn't. Out of respect for the girls tender feelings, I jumped on a grenade and told my buddy I had a boner and couldn't stand up.
Only I, and now you all, know the real truth. There was no boner, only a pinched off nerve. I took heat for that. Real heat.
