Korpasalo was very solid. I wonder if Forsburg gets another chance.

After what's gone down the past two games (and how both Korpi and he have played for the Jackets in their opportunities before this season), I think Korpi has cemented himself as the backup. This "competition" between he and Forsberg seems over (and I know Torts alluded tonight that it's not). In fact, it wouldn't shock me if Forsberg never steps on the ice for the CBJ ever again. I see only three ways he could even wear a CBJ sweater in the regular season/playoffs in the future:

1) Vegas takes Korpi in the expansion draft
2) CBJ trade Korpi this off-season to a desperate team
3) Bob/Korpi gets sick/injured.

And I think if numbers 1 or 2 happen, CBJ will go outside the organization for a backup. I just don't think the organization trusts Forsberg much at this point. If number 3 happens, Forsberg would be called up to be the backup, but I doubt he would play unless the injury to Bob/Korpi was really long-term (like a month or longer) because you can't have one goalie play every game for a month with no rest at all.

But as long as both he and Korpi are in this organization and all three (including Bob) are healthy, Forsberg will be in Cleveland. I feel for Forsberg because he's a pretty good AHL goalie (and Korpi really hasn't been that good in the AHL) but for whatever reason Korpi has shown he can elevate his level of play when under the bright lights of the NHL and Forsberg just hasn't been able to translate his game against the world's best players.

I don't think the CBJ will lose Korpisalo or Forsberg to the expansion draft. They will have to leave Wild Bill, Calvert and Anderson unprotected. Or maybe the unprotect Boone to protect one of those. Vegas only gets to pick one player...so we'll see what they do.
