How has the Gears of War franchise progressed since the original? I am attempting to play through the Remaster and find it awful.

If you don't like the first one, chances are you won't like the others.
The formula gets refined but it's pretty similar with each entry.
I'm shite at the multiplayer but I enjoy the horde mode and campaigns. I'll play mp on occasion if I wanna get humbled but I can rarely do well and it's fun whenever that happens.

Personally I think GOW1 and GOW1 remastered are pretty terrible (in terms of multiplayer). 2 was reasonably bad. Gears 3 and 4 are LIGHTYEARS ahead of those games in terms of functionality, balance, netcode, everything.
