The Saenger brothers built the Strand. It was the masterpiece of their 300+ theatre empire. They started at the Saenger drug store on Milam. Then built a theatre next door for vaudeville acts. Now the Capri. Motion picture came along and they caught the wave. Later selling their empire to Paramount? for 30M? in what was the largest entertainment deal of the time
