Admins Doin' work.
The officer responded to a burglary, got shot during an initial altercation (read that he got shot in the face). Another officer arrived, the suspect tried to steal the wounded officer's cruiser, -and then fled on foot, eventually being shot in the upper torso and arrested.
The officer that was killed was still alive apparently when he was thrown into a cruiser and rushed to the hospital ~1-2 miles away, but nothing could be done.
Reports said that there were roughly 100 officers at the hospital after the situation had been contained. The guy was well known and liked among his peers, both city- and county-wide.
