Herman Will Flop Regardless Where He Lands

I just don't think he lives up to expectations. I just see shades of Rich Rod in 07 and 08.
Surefire hire. Can't miss young offensive genius. Give him the keys to the Porsche. Watch him run it into a tree.
I don't know. It's just a feeling. It seems like every time there is a can't miss, young coach, he chokes. He doesn't measure up or the pressure gets to him.
Time will tell.
These guys never seem to pan out.

Whether he comes to LSU or goes to UT, his background is a bit different in that he came from being the OC at a Power Five program, Ohio St. and was highly successful there. RR's background was nothing like that beyond running a high powered offense against not stellar defenses. Note he bombed at a big boy school, Mich.

Urban Meyer is a great example of a young up and comer.

OC at Clemson before taking over at West Virginia.
I think his resume was pretty damn good. At the time, and I don't know how many remember this, but he was THE GUY everyone wanted him.
There are several other examples of hot young coaches shitting the bed. More than there are of the young guns being up to the task.
Just playing the odds here.

It's fair given the data, but this guy just seems different. He has been successful everywhere he has gone and seems to have recruiting chops. The greatest coach of all time respected him enough to get his input on what he did that was effective against his defensive scheme. He has had tremendous success as a HC, albeit a small sample size. People don't harp on this enough, but being a member of mensa tells me this guy isn't some fluke... he is probably just that gifted.

See Gus Malzahn too...
OC on National Championship team, conference champion in one year as HC, started hot at AU (National Championship game appearance)...
As of two weeks ago his seat was el fuego hot...

I agree. We better be careful and not get caught up because someone else says he is a hot pick. As I said before, easy for new coaches to get caught up in what they think they should be doing.
Easy to get flooded with sanctions. I don't want to rush this hire because other jobs are opening.

In HOU for the night, was listening to a local sports show with some guy named Pete from SI...the crux of this, the firing of Miles has set off a panic among legacy programs already contemplating making a change...Strong, Malzahn, and the USC guy are now dead men walking...Oregon possibly...Jimbo will leave FSU only for LSU, if they ask he'll walk. Herman's dream job is UT, but UT are afraid LSU will throw the bank at Herman, and the SEC intrigues him...next to Herman, PJ Fleck is the hottest coaching commodity in College football...Petrino with the PJ money isnt leaving UL...Auburn is a dumpster fire and according to the SI guy Briles will be pursuing the job....this is all from SI, some guy named Pete

He's my number 3.
Jimbo #1 almost a sure thing, very little down side.
Patrino #2 also almost a sure thing, higher buy out, small down side.
Both of these are mature and would stay around 10-15 years if successful.
Herman high potential for good or bad. If very good, will NFL call in 5 years? #3

I think you say TH is a flop so that he would be available at Bama once Saban retires. Too late, man.

Yup. Tough to pull a coach from UT.
So, you guys want Charlie Strong, right?

you gave one example. lame.
and I tend to agree that he is NO can't miss coach. one gig and he's killed it by beating two top teams; and the rest of his opponents pretty blah.
I would be leery of hiring him.
