So apparently this is out. Something about one of the couples booked, and got a phone call asking about when they want to schedule their "required time-share presentation". Nothing apparently was indicated about a presentation when they booked online. They said it was optional, but if they didn't do it, the rates were basically double. So everyone got their panties in a wad and apparently we are not going.
So, instead, apparently we are going to Punta Cana. I think.
As long as there is cold beer and bikinis, I'm game.

A little fiasco like the one you've just described is the main reason why my wife and I don't travel in big groups anymore, or if we do, we decide on a location and our friends can meet us if they're able to. There have been far too many instances where some little oversight or misunderstanding caused a big ripple among the group whereby we all ended up not going.
Punta Cana is a gorgeous spot, there are some recent threads on this board...you should check them out. Despite there being quite a lot of things going on, it is a very relaxing and peaceful place where all the residents are super polite and kind. Here's a photo:
....and as I will always diplomatically plead, please take a shite ton of pics and come back and post a solid review that we can include in the sticky at the top of this board.
