His long game needs A LOT of work, but he is amazing within 10 yards or so. Very accurate and throws catchable passes. When under pressure knows exactly where his check down is and delivers it to them.
If I'm being hyper critical I saw a LOT of passes out to the FB in the flat which just never gets us much it seems like. I'd rather passes like that go to a TE dragging across, someone a little more athletic. I do think this forced Mizzou to really defend the whole field on us though and get some guys outside the box for the run game to really open up.

Don't mind if I do.
Etling does a great job of not forcing anything, and the result is a quick check down. JD Moore said himself that the game plan was to give Etling a simple read and then let him dump it off if it wasn't there, hence some of the quick throws in the flats after checking the primary read.
The plus side here - and this goes to the staff more than anything - is that having only 1 read is fine if you've got 4-5 routes being run. The defense doesn't know what the read will be and they still have to cover everything, which is why the little dump offs still get the job done for the time being.
His deep ball issues are well documented but the other concern - and the biggest concern IMO - is his inability to get the frick down on scrambles. He has no business trying to block on plays that cut back either. He takes way too many hits.
