Overachieved in all IMO.

I think he did very well in managing all those sides. All were tough jobs.

He still obviously got this gig because of his american connections but people, including managers, often get gigs because of connections. I don't think it can be said that he doesn't deserve it or that he is unqualified. He's managed two national teams, Ligue 2 club, tippelagen club, mls clubs, and I think he has to be viewed as having varying degrees of success at all stops.
