at this point...I think the next announcement regarding will be a reveal and a date that doesn't meet expectations...a delay. Nintendo hasn't said one word about it, but everyone and their mom has march 2017 as their expected date and they haven't refuted it, and at this point it's too late.
in addition to it not being ready for reveal, the nes classic is going to be a seller for them this holiday season and I don't think they'll want to take attention away from it. I wouldn't expect an announcement this year
I think there was an enthusiasm vacuum after the "who gives a shite" mid gen update unveilings, and that they didn't strike while the iron was hot tells me that they didn't have the capability to do so...sounds like they're starting off on the wrong foot with yet another console.

unbelievable, especially considering how poor the Wii U did sales wise.

A week ago they were creating hype and demand. Now you think they are screwing up?

I'd flip the other day, I think they are prepping something big. The move into mobile, the Mini, the NX....
I think they announce a big media push into all markets centered around a platform that is way more flexible than anything else on the market - game-wise.
I still have hope!
Remember, they don't do things normally. This is just like them to announce something less than 6 months away.
However, I wouldn't be shocked at a delay either

a reveal now would just take attention away from their holiday money maker...plus it seems like now that a slew of conveniently well timed articles and blogs about the nes classic have started appearing that the nx will not be revealed this year.

however, if the nes classic is a marketing Trojan horse that also nets them a shite ton of dollars then...well played Nintendo.

I asked the question if they had done so intentionally or by design not really set one way or the other. they'll get some serious cash from the nes classic. it's low priced but appeals to a bigger market than any pricier console products. we're rapidly approaching the date where an nx reveal would take focus from that and impact sales, but that's just my .02
