He got "quitted." He quit before he was fired.

He was not forced out. Giannini wanted to make a change, so he offered Bower a position as 'Associate Athletic Director' where he would be in charge of recruiting, players' grades, etc and serve as a mentor to Tyrone Nix (whom they originally wanted to bring in).

Bower got pissed and refused. He told them that they had to keep him as head coach or fire him. It was time for a change so they did what needed to be done. But they did not intend to fire him or get rid of him. They wanted him to be part of the program, just in a different capacity.

bullshite. This is completely made up. Giannini told Bower it was over but that his long tenure at USM and his respect in the community warranted that he be given the chance to resign instead of being fired. He was not offered any other job and he was not offered the chance to stay if he fired his assistants. He was shown the door but out of respect USM let him go with some sense of dignity instead of shite canning him.

I know Giannini because I am friends with his daughter. Got the story first hand. Where do all these BS rumors come from anyway??!
