Visting my sister in the Raleigh area, and I was sent to go get the sausage for the Jambalaya.
I stood in awe just looking at the massive beer selection that store had.
Anywho....
They had a tap selection in the beer section!

Strolling through the beer section at this local grocery store called Lowes Food store and then bam! A bar in the corner with 10 taps

Whole Foods stores now have this. Some of the HEBs and Krogers are getting on board as well.

Oh I've had """lunch""" at whole foods in Lafayette a couple times.
But this little corner bar is just right there out in the open

The TX and Santa Fe Whole Foods I've gone to have their bars out in the open too.
In fact, you can walk around with your beer while you shop. Yet, in Lafayette, where you have drive thru daiquiris and go-cups, you can't go outside the saloon doors with you beer at the WF.
About the most bassackwards thing around.

Just about every grocery store in Oregon besides Safeway/Albertsons has this. I post a lot of pics from grocery stores...

Another thing I see here is the beer coolers are not behind the bar. From where I'm sitting at the bar, the beer coolers are on the other side of the restaurant and they are self serve. LSUBoo has been here, and picked a few brews out of this coolers. Between 800 and 1000 different beers. I can't get all of them in the frame, but you get the picture.

I think that's why they are out in the open. The baertenders probably complain that it takes too long for the customer to decide, and the indecisive customers probably take up spots at the bar.
Most every taproom in Portland does this. Apex Bar is an exception.
