This is a bad idea IMO. Disney is gonna cash grab on remaking all of these old, beloved cartoons as live action now, and that sucks.
One reason The Jungle Book worked so well was because there was a human boy in it. So contrasting a live, actual actor with the cartoonish sets and CGI characters is cool, looks cool, and works.
Making The Lion King just because seems like a pretty stupid idea. There won't be much different except that instead of cartoon animals you'll be looking at a different type of cartoon animals (CGI).
Horrible idea.
But I will prolly see it since TLK is one of my GOATs.

I can understand the live action Jungle book and beauty and the beast because they have people in them to serve a purpose and realism to ground the live action, but how will that work with Lion King?
Disney has been doing a great job with these.

The original is always going to be the original. I don't see the fuss about remakes because it brings light and attention back to the classic with a modern touch. So I'm pretty excited.

I'm not ready to relive Mufasa's death.

How do you have a live action lion king with no humans?

After watching The Jungle Book I have faith in Favreau to bring a quality movie

Favreau doesn't get the credit that he deserves. He set the tone and launched the entire Marvel Studios / Disney Megamovieverse and now he's the architect of Disney's latest goose that will lay an unlimited number of billion dollar golden eggs.
If you didn't see him on Robert Rodriguez's Director's Chair show on El Rey last week, check it out. It's a great interview.
