Interesting, and that was before the line was moved up.

Do it a few times, get the other team in onside kick recovery formation, and then you can sky kick it too with a free shot at the returner

It has always grinded my gears when we kicked long field goals on 4th and short too.

Good thread Timmy. Unfortunately no coach would be willing to try it at this level.

I say if we fall to say 1-5 or so...we have nothing to lose and may as well do it. We ain't forcing any turnovers on defense so an onside kick is our best shot at stealing possessions.

Plus, worse case scenario the other team gets the ball at our 40 and scores quickly and their defense doesn't get a rest.
