The Tennessee game in '05 was game 2 of his LSU tenure and post-Katrina. The team ran out of gas and got beat. How that represents him as a coach is beyond me. '05 showed me that LSU had probably found the second diamond in the rough.

It wasn't the result, it was the details. That's the part that pumpers perpetually never understood.

The results are all that matters. Your aesthetics be damned.

I don't understand what could have been expected of him then, in the most extraordinary of circumstances. Let alone the fact that we steam rolled to the SEC championship game that year. C'mon bro.

I think whoever said reality lies somewhere in the middle is correct. The nega's never wanted to give the man credit for anything (ie "stumbling" into the talent on the roster in 2011), but the posi's never wanted to give him all the blame (myself included). I think everyone pretty much agrees now that it was time. It's done. I will not blame the administration if we suffer a bit before we come back.

I stand by this statement however. LSU does NOT recruit itself. Getting athletes to come play here was probably what les and his collection of assistants did best. Best gameday coach he was not, stubborn he was, but kids wanted to play for him. I hope our next coach is up to the challenge of keeping walls around the state and hopefully either recruiting a qb to fit his system, or changing the system to fit the tools of the qb (which was the only area Les never seemed to grasp).
