A buddy of mine just retired from the BRPD as a Major (or whatever one step up from captain is; took his promotion right before he retired) and I once asked him about this very thing.
He said that was aware of nothing that was actually on the books that allowed them to enforce such postings (stop signs, speed limits, etc) on private property. Said the only exception was handicap parking.
Side note: I've always wondered how this applies to the operating of a vehicle while intoxicated???

You can be sitting in your own driveway, drunk off your arse behind the wheel, doesn't matter they can arrest you.

Back in my college days before I was smart and use to drive hammered, I blew out a tire in a parking lot trying to cut across it or something, cops happen to be passing by and helped me change the tire. Afterward I was just like alright thanks, gonna leave her here for the night and walked off, they never said anything about me being hammered.
