Can you get ticketed for running one?

Because it's private property and all... just curious

no, unless of course pedestrians are walkign and you mow them over. You cannot do that. Same as "no thru traffic", that is not a law.

They are more suggestions or guidelines than actual rules.

Years ago a guy ran a parking lot stop sign and hit my car. Police wouldn't even come to the scene since no one was hurt.

A buddy of mine just retired from the BRPD as a Major (or whatever one step up from captain is; took his promotion right before he retired) and I once asked him about this very thing.

He said that was aware of nothing that was actually on the books that allowed them to enforce such postings (stop signs, speed limits, etc) on private property. Said the only exception was handicap parking.

Side note: I've always wondered how this applies to the operating of a vehicle while intoxicated???

If it doesn't have the white sticker on the back of the sign with B.R. and some random number it's not a valid city sign.

In AL you can only be ticketed on private property for reckless driving, dui, and handicapped parking (if the spot is properly marked).
