Why? He's not sitting in his office making this decision alone. In fact, that would make the coaching search worse.

He's well liked by the BOS and isn't remotely as dumb as this board likes to believe.

That would mess with the coaching change for sure. Candidates not knowing who the AD is adds unnecessary uncertainty into the process, negates some of the benefit of opening up the job in September.
