I try to do the mandatory play time thing.....I really do...but if the kid sucks...even after being coached and taught over and over what to do...why should I hurt the team and the ones who care and try really hard by having Sucky McSuckerson out there for his minimum time not doing shite but looking like he sucks....

If it is a rule, then all teams should abide by it. I'm coaching a flag football team right now. We put in a rotation that goes on Offense & Defense, then goes to the next rotation. Your job as a coach isn't to win games, it's to teach the kids the game. Do you think you are the only team with kids that aren't very good? Teach the kid as much as you can...put him in a rotation and give him a shot to learn just like the other kids.

On the other hand, if you are coaching a competitive league without mandatory playing time rules...you need to make sure the parents understand that before the season starts. Since you said it was a "Mandatory" playing time rule...I'm believing that isn't the case.

we have the mando play rule yes...but the league is very competitive still...rule isn't truly enforced unless parent goes to AD...until then I get the earful from the parents...but when AD asks me why I don't play him...and its because he doesn't give his all at practice and never knows what to do even when instructed, I usually get a behind closed doors slap on the wrist...cause AD knows what's really up..

oh and we do play to win...AND teach...not doing so is millennial "every body is a winner" BS...
