Having trouble with a link because my work browser won't let me access sites like yahoo answers or quora, but I'm seeing an average of 34-35 million mattresses are sold each year while last year ~7.7 million cars were sold- both in the US.

Units sold/year isn't necessarily exactly what we're discussing, but it's a pretty good indication of which is replaced more frequently imo.

Those numbers don't really explain how often you change out a mattress. It seems you need more mattresses than you do vehicles though. think about a mattress for each kid and a spare bedroom would exceed number of vehicles needed for a family not to mention hotels rooms vs car rental. Everybody pretty much sleeps on a mattress but not everybody owns or uses a vehicle.

I guess if you include an infant's bed as a mattress, I suppose you are changing out from a baby, to kid's, to teen's, that's 3 in about a 15 year span.
