When? If soon, HHN is going on and really ruins the amount of time you can spend in Universal Studios before it turns into trashy a-hole fest for an extra price. Diagon Alley clears out for it though, so it makes that one a lot more fun to do with barely anyone there. I hate HHN, it's so lame and there are so many douchebags in the park for it.

Just found out I'll be there for that. I already purchased a park hopper ticket in August, will they charge me extra. All me and my wife care about is Harry Potter world

Universal Studios closes at around 5pm to switch over to HHN. If you don't have a ticket for HHN specifically, you will have to go over to Islands of Adventure. So basically do all the Diagon Alley stuff in the morning and go over to Islands and do the hogsmeade/hogwarts stuff in the evening.

If your wife doesn't like being scared, she doesn't need to attend HHN. They do pretty good make up and the scare zones make it impossible to walk in the park without annoying employees trying to scare you the entire time.

If you want Diagon Alley to yourself, HHN is the best time to check it out. It's super empty for that as they don't do HHN in Diagon Alley, but HHN tickets are pricey for just that. Waiting in those long arse lines for the haunted houses are ridiculous too.
