Does it matter how many local breweries there are as long as one can get the product?

A lot of people take pride in drinking and supporting their local beers. Local breweries general means fresher product, too. More local breweries also means more choices. You might prefer Envie over Devil's Harvest, but you will probably rotate them to change it up. You just saw Gnarley Barley step up their IPA game this past weekend. People want to buy local beers.

I also find that breweries in Oregon do a lot of one offs, which I enjoy. I think they do that for the same reason - to offer their customers something different and to get them excited about their beers again.

Parish sells all of their Ghost fairly quickly after each batch is released. Once sales start slowing down, they will probably start doing some one offs to change things up, and it will renew the excitement, as everyone will want to try the "new" beer, which might be a beer made similarly to Ghost, but with a different hop profile.
