I mean if he had just exposed it and stayed in the US then that's fine. But the frick went to Russia, a sworn enemy of the US. If you think that's okay, then you're anti-American.

Stay in the US where he'd be railroaded and imprisoned or executed? Why would he do that?

Is Russia still a sworn enemy? Can't be worse than Japan, Germany, or Britain.

He ended up in Russia because the U.S. cancelled his passport while he was en route to South America.

Now why he didn't schedule his meetings in South American instead of Asia is beyond me.

I would be fine with this argument if the trial were public and fair. From the way other people have been treated recently (when our government invokes secrecy as a matter of national security/interest) there's no reason to believe that could happen period.

This isn't an easy answer, but on the whole our government's actions seem to be the more troubling by far. Unreasonable search and seizure is a standard for a reason - because it restricts the ability of government to act against those who would question or reform. No person could stand up to an absolute level of scrutiny or applied government might.

My parents (especially my mother) vehemently disagree with me FWIW. But they have no good answer for why it is important for him to stand trial but a hero like deepthroat never was - and is still viewed as a hero by the boomers.
