But this ugly skank is representing the United fricking States of America

And she is is sympathizing with an idea that this is an inherently unjust oppressive country.

The governing body needs to grow some balls

Wouldn't that be like, the antithesis of American values to kick someone off the team for not pledging allegiance to the flag?

fricking country was started because a few brave souls said frick the crown (flag) and we're doing our own thing from now on.

Lobbying that anyone who doesn't bow down to the symbol of our government must be punished is just more evidence of the pussification of america

Yes, but they did so from another area of the world....
If Rapinoe and Kaep wanna sail off to some other land and rebel against our country, have at it....

One was started the same way in 1861 - such things don't always work out like you think it will.

I've been saying this. What is going on with everyone?

I don't agree with all these stupid protests, but I also don't care. But anybody can do what they want non-violently. Are we all robots that everyone has to be the same.

Pledging everyday in school growing up was nothing more than indoctrination (and apparently it worked by the uproar) and standing for every damn sporting event is Nazism. Lets face it, what's the difference.

People abroad are horrified at our patriotism and military show of force during small sporting events.

Shite, how are we different...flying Stealth Bombers over...look at us!

If you were honest and smart and knew history, you would agree...We have a former Soviet Union military parade during every major sporting event. Why?

Can't we just play sports and leave nationalism to military parades?

That's not the supposed to be the US, when did we become so conditioned to the military industrial complex?

That's the real issue. Not why Rapinoe or Kap are kneeling because of black lives or whatever.

But why are we still playing the anthem or doing incredibly ostentatious jingoistic displays of nationalism before each game with flags and eagles and marching?

Dwight D. Eisenhower would be horrified today.

I think the protests are stupid...but I as I posted earlier from history...

The National anthem was never even intended to played during stupid sporting events. It was to "only be played for military processions...or special occasions."

I don't think Niners @ Giants is a special occasion.

Or some women's soccer game.

So I don't give a crap what Rapinoe or Kap do...it makes no difference in my life.

They are not at a military funeral at Arlington...if they were, that would be different...

But they are playing fricking sports. I have no problem with nationalism being taken out of it and reserved for special occasions.

The anthem has lost it's luster because every kid from Little League to rec B-ball gets that honor.

It should be reserved for people who deserve the honor.

I'm not sure you understand the difference between punishment and consequences. Kicking her off the team for failing to pay a simple sign of respect when you are playing for the national team of that country is not punishment. But there may well be consequences. And if she isn't willing to accept those consequences, then she's not taking a principled stand; she's just grandstanding.
