Catching a football is like painting (art). You've either got it or you don't. Sure, you can get better with reps, but really good receivers don't have to be taught a certain technique. It's intuitive.
Running routes is a different story.

IIRC, Marques Colston had a big problem with drops in college but vastly improved through drills.
