Catching a football is like painting (art). You've either got it or you don't. Sure, you can get better with reps, but really good receivers don't have to be taught a certain technique. It's intuitive.

Running routes is a different story.

IIRC, Marques Colston had a big problem with drops in college but vastly improved through drills.

Not true, really. If you think great receivers are born that way, you're dead wrong. Need talent? Yes. But, reps and technique are critical at this level. There is a reason Jerry Rice is the GOAT, and it isn't his raw talent or speed.
