Only experience I can add is a VX-2 on a 300 Win Mag and it's held up great. Is there any other differences in the VX-1 and VX-2 other than the friction/1/4MOA click adjustments? I have a 4-12x44 VxFireII but mine is on a 243 and the 35 kicks a tiny bit more than the 243. The Leupold does seem brighter at dusk/dawn but I don't know is that's the lower magnification v. objective size or better light transmission.
