I have the Nikon Prostaff 3x9x50 on an H&R 35 Whelen and it's held up fine.
I had a lower end Pentax on it and couldn't keep it sighted in. I blamed it on the scope and replaced it with the Nikon. it turns out the screws were loose that held the rail on the gun. I put a little loc-tite on them and tightened them down and it's been fine since.
