I have a friend that has the Nikon PS5 and a Vortex DBHP (1 model higher than what I was shopping)
He put them side by side to compare for me. He said the Nikon was clearer, sharper, and smoother to operate the mag dial. I think both are good scopes and I'd probably be happy with either, but I trust this guy's advice and think I'll go with the Nikon.

If you feel like you would be happier with a Nikon then by all means go for it. Any of the scopes talked about here will do everything you need them to do. If you get the Nikon you will be just as happy.
I have never heard of a Vortex breaking because of recoil though, that's interesting. I have one on a 300 WM and a buddy has one a 300 WBY Mag and both hold zero.
