Flying to Boston is not bad.
Maine is only about 50 minutes from Logan Airport.
Getting up to Acadia is probably another 2/3 hours though.

Spent a week in Boston and did several day trips.
One to Cape Cod.
One to Newport Rhode Island
One to Maine.
You could do a lot in Boston and then head up to Maine. If you didn't want to fly into Boston, your next bet could be Portland Maine which is closer to Acadia National Park area.
