Ex and I did this, and it made things a lot easier during the process. I'll talk to friends/family who went through awful divorces and they can't believe how lucky I was to be spared of that.
I tell everyone she made an awful wife, but was one excellent ex-wife.

No, those aren't successful. Because one always wins - may not be apparent at first but it will down the road when things count.
