Me thinks you need to learn why it is that basically every other team in the nation knows you're wrong. Traffic matters too. Haven't you ever heard of the concept of getting your playmakers in space?

I understand how it works. It is all a numbers game.

For those of you who are interested in those runs without 8 or more in the box:

6 in the box, shotgun formation - 1 yard gain

7 in the box, shotgun formation - 3 yard gain

7? in the box, I formation - 6 yard gain

7 in the box, shotgun formation - 15 yard gain

Dellenger may have been strict with his definition of "in the box" because I can't seem to find any other legitimate plays with less than 8.

This isn't really an indictment or support of the "heavy" formations. Many of Fournette's longest runs in this game and last season were the result of him breaking containment with so many in the box. If you spread it out, you might get more per play but you likely cut down on the big play too.

Again, I'm not coming out in support of the strategy. I'm simply saying that the numbers in the box aren't the end all, be all, if you've got the guys there to block them.

Hmm. I think we have someone on this board who would like to discuss "yards per play" with you.

Slack, can you do basic math?

23 total carries - 19 with 8+ in box = 4 carries with fewer than 8.

You have links to those 4 so I'm not sure what "other legitimate plays with less than 8" you're looking for.
