Did anyone see episode 1 of "A Season With" Florida State Football on Showtime? It was really good and one thing in particular that I took notice of was Jimbo's weekly QB test that he gives to each QB on the roster. It has questions around the defense they're facing that week(best player to watch for, coverages in certain situations, etc). It's of no surprise why Deandre Francois performed well against Ole Miss in his first start. It's the things like this that we know Miles isn't doing with LSU that separate good teams from great teams. You can't be a national contender on talent alone in college football. It's all apart of the process that real coaches understand. It's about being as prepared as you can be. Something that LSU doesn't do that is a direct reflection of their head coach Les Miles.

It would be very enlightening to see what our QBs get in the way of mentoring, coaching, and game prep in the course of a game week.

he went from brandon harris to jameis winston in a matter of a half.

The one qb recruit that I think might have been able to overcome Miles coaching was Shea Patterson. Really wish they had been able to get him, because I believe he is that good.. but even with him, you just never know with this current staff.

Dameyune Craig
Rohan Davey
Jamarcus Russell
Matt Flynn
Christian Ponder
EJ Manuel
Jameis Winston
and now Francois

Every one of these guys was a total stud QB by the time they left Jimbo's tutelage.

I gotta think Narcisse and Brennan are going to be awfully attractive for a big name coach considering LSU.

Watched the 1st episode right after I saw your post! Forgot it aired this week. I think Fisher would be awesome for us. He's a great coach, loves his players, and is a great recruiter and motivator. I couldn't help but watch and think how this would look if they followed LSU and how comical/sad it would be to try and figure out what the hell Miles said half the time in the office interview moments, or what kind of interaction he even has with Harris and the QB's. Would be eye opening to go all access like that into our program.

Francis is a tough mofo playing quarterback. Ole Piss laid some shots on him during that game.
Oh to witness an LSU offensive play call...."Brandon Harris takes snap, zone read to right side, fake to Leonard, steps back hits Dupre down seam in stride...Touchdown Tigers!!!"

Miles doesn't believe in that nonsense. Just line up and play smash mouth football is the only way.

Agree with everything with one exception. We are not a good team.

Why did they finish with a less productive offense than lsu last year? While playing in the worst p5 conf on the planet.

I think Brandon Harris has plenty of tests. instructions, training, etc, etc, etc. in fact, he has probably been "over coached". his head has been swimming.

imo, it's time to just let him play. get the play in early, let him survey the D and decide whether or not to audible out of it or not, and go with it.
let his intelligence and experience be his guide.

he needs to take the next step. and that is learning by doing and living with the results. if he picks up a bad habit, then the coaches can make the correction.

my thoughts are that he will excel.

there is NO SUCH THING AS PERFECTION; the good must outweigh the bad and I think it will.

we can win the next 2 games even while he' learning to walk on his own and it will pay huge dividends going forward. that is if the OL doesn't get him killed first.

Alabama fans can crow all they want about Jalen Hurts but what Jimbo did with Deondre Francois was down right amazing and spectacular.
