I think it's underrated and underlooked. It's definitely an exercise in artistic excess, but it still proves PTA is a master of creating a time and place. I think he made it for fun.

it was by design as I recall by PTA. You could figure out the basics of the movie by just watching it, but you needed to read the book to get to the next level.

its a good mindfrick film and a bit of what the frick just happened. its worth watching if you want devote a lot of mental energy to it.
