The Heat is On by Glenn Frey is the worst to me in the 80's. fricking horrible and played every 10 minutes on the radio it seemed like.

I personally hated "We Didn't Start The Fire" by Billy Joel.
What's remarkable is that so many artists who had made fine music in the '60s and '70s were just churning out formula pop by the mid 1980s, with little esthetic appeal, but nevertheless commercially successful.
Chicago, Billy Joel, Paul McCartney, Lionel Richie, and the aforementioned Starship are at the head of this class, but were by no means alone.
