True, but in my experience, they are only miserable before the trip. If you do fun stuff on the trip, they will have a good time. The kids may want to go to NYC, if only because they would get wifi and a signal on their phone. When I took my kids to NYC, I made them put away their phones, except for the time that we were driving.
