re: Chip Credit Cards and Readers

They have not been around that long in the US - most banks only started issuing them in the last year or so. One of my banks ( a smaller one) still has not started issuing chip cards yet.

For the cards I have (other debit card and credit card) that have the chip, it might take 3-5 seconds longer. I've never had problems with them not working. What happens more often is that the retailer says the chip reader isn't working, so I just slide the card and keep going.
