I was told that Europe's been doing this for years and how great it is.

I was just in Europe and their readers take about 2 seconds. Way faster than the crap america is using. And all their readers are portable so they bring the reader to your table in restaurants. Had a waiter tell me that by law I had to be able to see my card at all times is why they do that. They also have pin #s for their CCs. They laughed at me when the reader made me sign. How is a signature gonna keep anything secure? Get in the 21st century america.

Better security my arse. My fricking card had been replaced 2 times since they put that chip reader shite on there and never before.

Because they can more easily detect potentially fraudulent charges. Duh.

Especially with a debit card. You should NOT be given the option of PIN vs signing. It should always be PIN only. Same for credit cards. Sorry folks, but America is way behind not only Europe, but the entire world on this one.
