Yep this exactly. I've now gone thru 3 credit cards and 2 debit cards since we've switched to chip.

And last week I nearly lost $60 because of the whole "leave your card in the whole long transaction" thing. By the time my 8 foot long grocery receipt printed, I got my bags into the buggy, collected some Kroger stickers for my kids, and put my card away, I'd forgotten about the cash (which is of course dispensed in a whole diff area of the self checkout machine). I don't do cash back often so it wasn't my routine.

Thankfully the cashier saw it immediately after and put it away with a note in her register.
