Yeah, I know exactly why the Army chose it (still against the USMC's advice which was based on actual marksmanship testing). Hardly anyone is shooting steel jacketed tracers through their AR unless they just don't care what they are doing to their barrel and like to waste money or are loading bullets 1.150" long or longer. Even 75 - 77gr OTM's are shorter than M856.
