I know where he is trying to go - oppression leading to poverty, poverty leading to crime - but he doesn't have much of a leg to stand on with the absent fathers = racism idea.

Ain't it funny how the black family was actually better off under Jim Crow? Lower unemployment compared to today, fewer of them locked up, a whole lot more kids growing up in 2-parent households. I don't know the education stats, but I'd be willing to bet they did better in school as well.

Sure, racism of the past is a big reason why we are where we are today, but trying to pretend there is zero accountability for a black person who kills another black person is LOL funny.
If he wanted to say it's one of many reasons, he'd be correct.
