Depends. Do you think it would deter people? I absolutely don't. You look at the amount of crime when torture and public execution was standard practice and it didn't do much to deter.

Now ify you said there would be a large benefit to the public in bringing a sense of closure to heinous crimes, I'd say you would be correct.

Well, adding the word "public" to it, with how society is today..times have changed, and I wouldn't be surprised if by adding public to it, some may be turned off to risking things.

We live in superficial times where ironically,..some people may would rather die, than to be publicly shamed.
