Ghostbusters got a lot of hate for pushing the women angle and destroying the old universe. Had they just come out and said these were the daughters of the original 4, that would of made me more likely to want to see it instead of just axing the original universe. Then the trailer came out and that ruined any possibility.

Now I don't think a vagina supersedes talent.
There are many many talented and funny women out there who I thoroughly enjoy. I just don't like unfunny women getting roles that they don't deserve.

The problem with Jenny was less than the problem with teh writers of FG - they made every more complicated and more human person suffer enormously for their lack of idiocy. The problem with Skylar is she was a moral out for their own enjoyment of Walter White's evil.
We can find ourselves in the position of empathizing with and enjoying the terrible actions of a villain, but a supporting character signing off on the same returns our sense of normal moral outrage and we punish her as a result (in this case her, it would be a man if the evil lead were the wife).
The gender of both is actually incidental (other than the chauvanism of the lead generally being male). The anger is motivated by how they respectively mistreated a child-like lead and collaborated with an evil character we embraced.

Because many of these movies don't cast women because it's the story line. They cast them specifically to push an agenda. Like JJ Abrams has said he wants more gay characters in future Star Wars movies. WHY?? If that's part of the story like GoT then fine but to set out just to get a checked box it's just dumb.
