I also don't disowned him as a person or citizen in our country with comments posted like "send him back to Africa".

People are mad due to his perceived disrespect to the men and women who have fought for the freedom to have our anthem played. At the same time, I would invite everyone of you to any American base at 7:55am in the morning and watch your beloved service members scattered like insects the moment the 5 minutes sound for colors is broadcasted. Kap refused to stand - ok, but these military members refuse to even be outside for the near two minutes of our anthem.

As a leader in our Naval service I have personally voice my displeasure in these members lack of professionalism. But I have NOT disowned any of them as my brothers and sisters in arms.

Just think, the next time you see a service member and say "thank you for your service" there is a good chance they avoided the playing of colors that day...

The point is we may not agree with actions of another. But that disagreement should not be the reason to assume the worse in that person. A disagreement is just that - a disagreement. The freedom to disagree and be civil is what make us America.

He does it once a week, doesn't have to stand at attention, doesn't have to salute, and he's already stuck outside.

Regardless, it's his prerogative.

I think he's pretty stupid based on his reasoning and it irritates me but I don't hate the dude and won't lose any sleep over him not standing for the pledge.

Speak for yourself. My family will frequently go outside when the National Anthem is played.

Few things make me more proud than looking out the window at 5 when the National Anthem plays and seeing my kids get off their bikes/drop their toys and salute/put their hands over their heart for the duration.

I agree that CK has the right to do what he did but it doesn't make him right. He's wrong and is a gigantic hypocrite IMO.

if it wasnt for the internet and facebook and twitter no one would give a shite. This affects my life in no way whatsoever. All the attention has done is give him the attention he wants. but nonetheless, people are dumb and always looking for something to get faux outraged about

If he can have such an over dramatized stance on the National Anthem and the flag of the USA, then people can overreact in the same way.

The problem with this pussy nation right now is that we make excuses and stand up for people we don't agree with, more than we stand up against those who we disagree with.

There is no reason to state the obvious that it's his right to do whatever childish, misinformed thing he wants to do, WE ALL KNOW THAT. He doesn't need that defense.

I will just enact my version of that right to say F YOU Kaepernick. You spoiled, waste of an NFL paycheck, flat bill wearing, probably smoking too much while learning "your history" ,wannabe from Wisconsin. Just do your damn job, stop inviting young people to believe that this country is against them because of the color of skin, leading them to an attitude of more helplessness, while you were propped up by those same lily white Americans to get where you are today. A rich, spoiled, a-hole.

I don't agree with Kap, but he has a right to voice his opinion and not stand for the anthem.

I have a right to voice my opinion that he is a piece of shite, and hope that he takes off and a linebacker ends his season.

Pretty sure those servicemen are not making a political statement when they "scatter"as you say. The reporter that broke this story went back to kap and basically told there will be a shitstorm from all this and kap told him to run with it, it was the message he wanted to send. I do not hate the guy, but i would drop him if i were a sponser and i wouldnt let him near my team if i were an owner.

I have a cousin & an uncle, one in the Navy as the OP describes & the other a Marine & I just talked to both as they are on leave for the upcoming holiday wkend. Both said that they have never seen what the OP describes here. I call BS.
