Yes, but neither had taken a meaningful snap at QB.

And both weren't "in the system" for 5 years. Sims had a brand new OC the only year he started, and Coker transferred in.

McCarron was a RS sophomore first year starter who won the NC. McElroy was another first year starter national champ.

6 of the last 7 national champs have had first year starting QBs.
