Is your pets flea preventative no longer working?

My dog has been on Frontline for probably a good 6 years. In the past three weeks (4 weeks ago last treatment) I noticed fleas on him when he never had them before with treatment. Guess I will be sprinkling salt all over for the next few days.
UPDATE: The salt in all the carpet and rugs did help out and washing the linen my dog sleeps on every day as well as using Dr GreenPet natural spray and the fleas are way down. But my vet said he cannot understand how so many of his patients this year have had their flea prevention sprays/pills/drops become useless. In fact he is no longer selling any flea prevention.

I have a two year old schnauzer. Used nexgard the entire time. I've never had an issue.

Frontline doesn't work very well.

I've noticed that with our dog. I feel bad for her. I washed her in blue Dawn to kill off some of the adult fleas.

Frontline sucks ball sack. I'm a broke arse college student but I get my dog Trifexis. $26 a month. Works awesome. Every now and then he scratches but the vet said it's a side effect. Checked the little fricker for an hour after he came with me shoot guns in the woods and not a single flea

If you shop at pet-i-supply, you can buy Trifexis for 1/2 cost that is charged here in USA.

Use a little Dawn when bathing your dog. No need to waste money on something you already have.

Switch between a couple different brands every so often. I've found that works

I found a flea and almost od'd my dog on flea medicine. You can actually do that, she had muscle issues for 2 days, but the vet said if it didn't kill her it isn't permanent.

What is preventative? Do you mean preventive?

Do you need a scrip from a vet to purchase?

Grammar police are bad enough here when they are right.

I just bought the trifexis from pet I supply and no prescription was needed. That will save me hundreds.

K9 Advantix 2 has given me no issues.
I wanted to get my pup on Comfortis, which worked great for our old dog, but he wasn't old enough yet.

Our dog had been on K9 Advantix for 9 years. Never had a flea problem until about a month ago. Started seeing fleas on him, gave him more Advantix, flea baths, sprayed the yard twice, vacuumed and washed everything. Fleas still. Vet and 800 Pet Meds said he may have grown immune. Not sure how that works. But switched to Nexgard. He hasn't had a problem since.
