No, that's bullshite. Id go get a receipt so you can track your issues and document it if this one is crap. I bet if you called corporate some heads would roll for not processing a proper exchange.
Now maybe it wasn't malicious or anything, but even after 6 days id help a customer out especially with a stack full of receipts.
