What do I need to do when I get them home?
The key with leather is clean, dry, but not too dry. I'm inclined to the suggestion to take them somewhere. Before you start putting products on there, you kind of need to know what it can tolerate. With boots that old, there's no telling. I think mink oil and saddle soap will be okay, but I've only worked on boots from the 80s forward.
Good luck.
