I still call my boss and people at work who I'm over and are older than me sir, ma'am.

I don't really see myself stopping either, it's just a habit

Quite honestly I would never hire anyone or promote anyone to any management level position who said Yes Sir in a "work environment" as it shows weakness and subservience. If I'm looking to hire a mail room clerk then I'm okay with it but I would fire you on the spot for saying that in front of customers or other management.
